Geshe Sherab guides us into what emptiness means, how it differs from the way we perceive reality, and how to reflect and meditate on emptiness. He also connects Emptiness with the other Buddhist teachings, especially compassion.
Geshe Sherab is well known for his notably clear explanations about Emptiness, building both on his very advanced traditional studies of Buddhism as a Geshe and his experience of teaching Westerners for almost 15 years.
This teaching requires some knowledge of basic concepts of Tibetan Buddhism such as the Four Noble Truths.
Imagine what our experience would be if our mind was free from all delusions such as anger, obsessive attachment, and pride. Because they stem from misconceiving ourselves and the world around us, these painful experiences can be eliminated by progressively subduing our mind. The wisdom of emptiness is the tool the Buddha gave us to do so. It is the way to uproot our fundamental ignorance from which all our wrong views, negative emotions, and sufferings stem by realizing things as they are. However vital the concept of emptiness is, it is difficult to grasp because it strongly differs from our usual way of apprehending ourselves and the world around us.
