Services to Schools and Youth Groups
As part of its involvement with the wider community, Buddha House offers a special service to Schools and Youth Groups.
We cater for the range of students from primary years to high school level, especially those preparing their SACE requirements, and we can also be of assistance to tertiary students and other interest groups.
For those who wish to know about Buddhism for educational or informational purposes, a program to meet these requirements can be arranged.
Rather than simply presenting a lecture on Buddhism, an experienced, registered teacher offers, in consultation with the subject teacher, an interactive lesson which fits the assessment requirements of the student syllabus. This can range from revision to the presentation of completely new material and, if necessary, follow-up material is available after the lesson.
Students can also receive assistance with their individual assignments by computer.
We encourage groups to visit us at Buddha House, so that they can experience a little of an old culture relatively new to the West.
Some teachers like to include Buddha House on their list of yearly excursions. Most schools who use our help are Christian schools, but we welcome those from all faiths and other groups.
We don’t have a set fee for this but, if it is possible for the school or club, a donation would be of use to assist our other activities in the community. If this is not possible, your visit will still be welcome.

Medicine Buddha Support Group
Medicine Buddha is the Buddha of Healing. Ultimately however, the greatest healing factor is our own motivation. This group offers a safe and welcoming environment for participants to freely discuss their challenges in life.
The meditation which follows is based on that discussion.
The Medicine Buddha Support Group meets on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
1.30-2.30pm : Discussion & Meditation
Break for tea/coffee and cake.
3.00-3.30pm : Medicine Buddha Practice
You are welcome to attend one or both sessions.
Recommended donation: $5.00
Compassion in Action
Emotional and spiritual care for those with life challenging illnesses.
We are a group of volunteer pastoral carers with a Buddhist background but are available for those from any faith tradition or none.
Offering meditative and contemplative practices that can help an individual to cope with the difficult times in their life.
We help you to build and deepen your own spiritual practice using techniques of compassion, loving kindness and forgiveness.
We are not counsellors; we offer a compassionate, listening ear.

“Real care of the sick does not begin with costly procedures, but with the simple gift of affection and love.
“In the practice of healing, a kind heart is as valuable as medical training, because it is the source of happiness for both oneself and others.
“People respond to kindness even when medicine is ineffective, and in return, cultivating a kind heart is a cause for our own good health.”
His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama
