Losar is a celebration in itself, but also marks the passing of Lama Thubten Yeshe at the age of 49 in the early morning of Losar 1982.

He was a charismatic visionary who founded the FPMT and inspired thousands of students including his main disciple our Spiritual Director Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Their organisation has grown to become a world-wide network of over 140 Dharma Centres, Hospices, Publishing Houses, Animal Sanctuaries and many other projects around the world.

His books and teachings still carry a message that powerfully awakens us to the folly of our ways, 30 years after his passing.

Monlam – The Great Prayer Festival

10 February to 24 February 2024

Monlam was established by Lama Tsongkhapa. It begins on Losar (Tibetan New Year) and culminates on the Day of Miracles (Chotrul Duchen). Any actions done during Monlam, both auspicious and harmful, are multiplied. It is therefore a very powerful time to practise and increase one’s commitment to both practice and study.
