Gen Dondrub will be looking deeply into this prayer of Samantabhadra and we will learn when and how to use it to deepen our Dharma practice

THE KING OF PRAYERS
The Mahayana text, The Extraordinary Aspiration of the Practice of Samantabhadra, is a prayer on the benefits of the mind of bodhicitta and is extracted from the Gandhavyuha chapter of the Avatamsaka Sutra. It summarizes all the extraordinary activities of bodhisattvas, as well as both the profound and extensive paths. For this reason, it is known as the “King of Prayers.”

It is commonly recited to bring benefit to those who are sick or have just passed away, and for the success of any virtuous project. Its recitation is a powerful way to purify and accumulate merit. If recited daily, it is a cause to be reborn in Amitabha’s pure land, and to never be reborn in the lower realms. For these reasons it can be said to be a complete practice in itself. Lama Zopa Rinpoche often encouraged his students to become familiar with this text.

During the sessions we will all read the prayer together and there will some times set aside for meditation and Q & A
